The Ocean Cleanup is increasing their effort to rid the world’s oceans of plastic by asking for help and support from people all over the world. In December 2020, The Ocean Cleanup released a brand-new River Plastic Survey app and an upgraded Ocean Plastic Survey app so that citizen scientists can join forces with them and help the organization gain greater insights into the plastic pollution problem in our oceans and rivers.
The survey apps allow anyone with a smartphone to become a citizen scientist. You will observe and document plastic pollution with the apps easy-to-use interfaces. The data collected will be immediately updated on The Ocean Cleanup’s newly released map of the global citizen science research effort.
