Wetlands 101 at Millbrook Marsh, PA

This Saturday, April 17, get outdoors for a 2-hour camp session organized by the Penn State Association of Water Students, this is a chance to meet other students, and learn about wetlands. Students will explore Millbrook Marsh, a local State College wetlands and learn about wetlands' vital role in our society, while enjoying time with friends outside. Session runs 10am-12pm.

Spring 2021 Penn State Water Forum

The purpose of the forum is to offer external perspective across diverse water-related challenges, foster community, energize interdisciplinary exchange and provide updates on key Penn State Water initiatives.

2021 Water Forum Agenda

  • Thursday, March 25 from 12:30–4 p.m.

The event is free and open to the Penn State community. Registration is required.

Day one of the forum will take place on Zoom. Day two of the forum will take place on Gather Town. Attendees only need to register through the Zoom portal to be registered for both platforms.

EarthEcho Water Challenge

The EarthEcho Water Challenge (formerly World Water Monitoring Challenge) is a program of EarthEcho International that runs annually from March 22 (the United Nations World Water Day) through December and equips anyone to protect the water resources we depend on every day. Learn how to perform basic water monitoring and share your results with an international database.

Penn State Global Programs 2021 Study Abroad Week runs this week, February 1 - 5. Join the virtual event sessions to learn all of the ways you can take your education overseas. With workshops and information sessions for all majors, you can begin planning for your own study abroad experience! All events will be held virtually, and students from any Penn State campus of college are encouraged to join.

SciStarter is a globally acclaimed, online citizen science hub where more than 3,000 projects, searchable by location, topic, age level, etc, have been registered by individual project leaders or imported through partnerships with federal governments, NGOs, and universities.

SciStarter helps bring together the millions of citizen scientists in the world; the thousands of potential projects offered by researchers, organizations, and companies; and the resources, products, and services that enable citizens to pursue and enjoy these activities.

SEA Semester Programs Sailing in 2021

Are you looking for an adventure with a purpose? Challenge yourself to step outside of your comfort zone and take your learning out of the classroom and into the field. You’ll never look at the world in the same way again.

The SEA leadership and faculty have worked hard to modify the program schedule to be able to offer SEA Semester programming that is consistent with its history of well-managed risk, academic rigor and experiential education.

Applications are currently open. SEA Semester operates on a rolling admissions basis and applicants are reviewed on a first-come, first-served basis until programs are full.

PA Pathways to Green School program

Pennsylvania’s Pathways to Green Schools Program recognizes schools across the commonwealth as they design, build, and implement environmental literacy and sustainability plans in their school, district, or postsecondary institution in their quest to achieve ED-GRS recognition.

The 2020-21 application for both the ED-GRS program and PA Pathways to Green School program is now available on the Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE) website. All applications must be submitted online to PDE, along with all supplemental materials, by 6:00 PM on Friday, January 6, 2021. Applications submitted by other methods will not be accepted.

2021 Biodiversity Symposium

A four-part virtual symposium series to expand networks and inspire creative strategies to promote biodiversity in urban, agricultural and natural areas, to improve human and ecological health and well-being.

The symposium opens on January 13 with a keynote presentation by David Cooper, Deputy Executive Secretary, U. N. Convention on Biological Diversity, Montreal. Weekly symposia will be offered by ZOOM between January 20 and March 24, 2021, from 1:25 pm to 2:30. All sessions are free and open to everyone, but registration is required as you join the ZOOM meeting.
