Application for Australia 2018 Field Course
The application process is online. All supporting documents can be submitted digitally through our online application form or emailed after the online form has been completed. Acceptable digital formats are PDF or Word Document. REMEMBER: Your application will be considered INCOMPLETE until all documents are received.

Non-Refundable Deposit
A check in the amount of $500 payable to Penn State University will be required ONLY UPON ACCEPTANCE INTO THE PROGRAM. Do not send money at this time.
In-Service Teachers Scholarship
This is a need-based scholarship reserved for In-Service Teachers. If you wish to be considered, please submit a One Page Essay demonstrating your financial need. We recommend sending your essay at the same time that you submit your field course application.
There is a field on the "School Information (For Educators)" page of our online form where you can upload your essay. Preferred formats are Word Document or PDF.
Physical Requirements
Must be in good physical condition and able to walk 10 to 15 km a day and/or night through dense rainforest and/or debris covered beaches.
No abuse of illegal drugs. No consumption of alcohol. No smoking.
Be willing to work under difficult and uncomfortable conditions such as heat, rain, and mosquitoes - all day and night.
Must be able to swim.
Know if you are allergic to mosquito bites, and if so have necessary medication on hand.
Have a health insurance policy issued by the United Healthcare Global Insurance Company through Penn State undergraduates. Information will be provided to you.
Must be able to endure long bus trips over rough and bumpy terrain.
It is STRONGLY advised that anyone with a heart condition or any other health condition such as, but not limited to, pregnancy, asthma, or arthritis consult Dr. McLaughlin before applying.
